ABSTRACT
The article reports on the stability of pawnbroking despite the recession in the U.S. According to several pawnbrokers, pawnshops are making more loans than usual on jewelry, but nothing spectacular. It is said that the industry is strengthened by a rough economy coupled with a recent law that permits pawnbrokers to buy merchandise rather than just lend money.
