ABSTRACT
Identifying factors that build the sexual culture in middle high class adolescents of Colima, Mexico is the main purpose for the present article. Taken into account were family and friends as symbolic universes in which the adolescents interact, and are cultural references that influence their sexual practices. In this research project 90 students participated: 45 men and 45 women with ages ranging from 14 to 18. Data was collected by means of focal groups and discourse analysis was used to interpret findings. The results characterize the sexual culture through sexual conduct of teenagers in Colima. Concepts like how using a condom is perceived, sexual attraction, beliefs and values on virginity and sexual debut are discussed. The findings are interpreted mainly from Urie Bronfrenbrenner's (1987) Ecological Theory of Human Development.
