ABSTRACT
The article reports on the efforts by researchers at Columbia University Medical Center in investigating the use of aliphatic beta-nitro alcohols for cross-linking corneoscleral tissue. The researchers are led by physicians David C. Paik and Stephen L. Trokel, who also helped developed the use of the excimer laser in cornea surgery. The potential advantages of corneal cross-linking over surgery are also discussed.
