ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the views of advocates for and against the proposed overhaul of U.S. immigration laws on who among 2008 Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama or Republican candidate John McCain has a better chance of enacting the measure. Frank Sharry of America's Voice gives Obama a 60% chance of getting an immigration bill in his first term and McCain with just 10%. Ira Mehlman of the Federation for American Immigration Reform acknowledges the difficulty of the idea that immigrants will flood the labor market at a time of job losses.
