ABSTRACT
The article discusses the historical, social-psychological dynamics and the critical exploration in teaching the immigration policies in the U.S. In terms of historical aspect, it is necessary for students to be given a broader history of immigration since economic and demographic changes are the causes of unprecedented human migration. Laws such as the Alien and Sedition Acts of 1978 need to be discussed to students since they provide an understanding of the immigration laws and restrictions. Students are informed of the cultural differences of a society through shared experiences and allowing them to live in another location. Autobiography writing can supplement their learning. Moreover, students need to know the benefits and costs of immigration.
