ABSTRACT
The article presents information on a study conducted to find out if eradication of Helicobacter (H) pylori reduces risk for metachronous gastric cancer in patients who had endoscopic resection for gastric cancer. The study was based on 544 patients ranging from 20 to 79 years of age who had early gastric cancer. H. pylori was eradicated in 75% of patients in the eradication group. It was found that prophylactic eradication of Helicobacter pylori reduced risk for metachronous gastric cancer.
