ABSTRACT
The article presents a case of a 52-year-old woman with 12 years history of type 2 diabetes who complained of continuous painful swelling in her left thigh. It cites that firm swelling in the anterior part of the thigh was identified in the physical examination. It cites that the patient undergoes biopsy to remove the muscle tumour but instead, a diabetic infarction was confirmed to be the cause of the pain. It uses magnetic resonance imaging as diagnostic test to examine whether it was a diabetic muscle infarction cause by long-term diabetes and microvascular complication. It concludes that diabetic muscle infarction should be considered by physicians in the differential diagnosis of diabetic patient with painful and swollen muscle.
