ABSTRACT
The article reports on the use of naphtha as a replacement for liquefied natural gas (LNG) by industries in the Gujarat state of India. According to the article, the industries are now experiencing abundant supply of low-cost energy after the 60 percent decline in the global petroleum price. The high demand of re-gassified LNG is now declining after the large users in the power and fertiliser sector have started shifting to the cheaper naphtha. NTPC Kawas and Essar Power are two of the power utilities that started shifting to low-cost gas.
