ABSTRACT
The article reports on a study which revealed that laser photocoagulation and adjunctive intravitreal triamcinolone acetonide offered better visual and anatomic outcomes than laser treatment alone in managing proliferative diabetic retinopathy and clinically significant macular edema. The study found that the mean best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) improved significantly in the panretinal photocoagulation (PRP)-intravitreal triamcinolone acetonide group compared with the control group at follow-up points.
