The article reports that the appeal to the House of Lords of Great Britain on the case of Scottish & Newcastle PLC versus Raguz has been decided. The ruling of the Court of Appeals on section 17 notices of the Landlord and Tenant (Covenants) Act 1995 was allegedly controversial. The House of Lords ruled that it is not necessary to serve a nil section 17 notice in order to preserve a potential liability of a former tenant when a rent review is overdue. It was further declared that it is not necessary to warn a former tenant for potential increase.
