ABSTRACT
The article reports that Microchip Technology Inc. and ON Semiconductor Corp. have stepped up their $2.3 billion takeover bid for Atmel Corp. The offer indicates that the two companies will acquire 54% premium from the share price of Atmel. Microchip will then obtain Atmel's microcontroller architecture business while ON Semiconductor will have Atmel's nonvolatile memory division.
