ABSTRACT
The article provides information on a midget machine called 4S from Toshiba, Kabushiki Kaisha. The little machine can produce 10 to 50 megawatts of power, just enough to light up a single factory. The 4S uses a dense bath of molten sodium to draw heat from the uranium, can make up for its size by cranking out steam almost twice as hot as the steam coming out of water-cooled reactors. Toshiba has begun talks with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission about installing a 4S in Galena, Alaska.
