After the merger of palm oil producers Sime Darby, Golden Hope Plantations and Kumpulan Guthrie, Darby's first annual results increased by 40% for the year ended June 30. 2008. After the fall in palm oil prices, its stocks fell 53%. Chief executive officer (CEO) Ahmad Zubir Murshid says that if a division is not giving adequate returns then they would not hesitate to divest it.
