ABSTRACT
This article reports on the opinion of Michael Gibbons, author of a review into statutory dispute resolution procedures, on the role of professional mediators in workplace disputes in Great Britain. According to Gibbons, a list of quality-assured professional mediators should be established to help promote early intervention in workplace disputes. He said that although the government wishes to encourage private funding of formal mediation, the industry needed to develop a reliable quality assurance standard.
