The article forecasts the earnings of HarperCollins Publishers Inc. and Simon & Schuster Inc., publishing companies in the U.S. It says that HarperCollins reported its fiscal first quarter on September 30, 2008 with revenue of $315.1 million, down 4.5% from the $330 million during the same period in fiscal 2008. Further, HarperCollins operating income fell from $36 million to $3 million. However, Simon & Schuster's revenue rose to $214.2 million to $225 million for the third quarter of 2008.
