ABSTRACT
The article reports that new commercial trailer registrations with lengths of 24 feet and more during the first half of calendar year 2008 were lower by 33.7% from the same period in 2007. This is revealed in Polk's Commercial Vehicle Market Intelligence Report. This decline is consistent with the 36.3% decline in new GVW 8 vehicles. Van registrations are down 40%; flatbeds, 45.5%; and dumps, 36.6%. Only grain trailers recorded an increase with registrations up 18.4%.
