HRSA: special techniques

The article discusses requirements and techniques for machining heat resistant super alloys (HRSA). The three groups of HRSAs are nickel, iron and cobalt-based alloys. Stages of the production cycle to develop fully optimised tool and machining process include removing skin and scale from forgings or castings prior to heat treatment. Solutions to the universal application of uncoated carbide at a cutting speed of 30 m/minute such as titanium turning, HRSA turning, titanium milling, and inconel milling, are discussed.
