ABSTRACT
The article reports that Bridgestone Corp. is dropping Firestone name from most of its operating units with effect from January 1, 2009. It is stated that the change is part of a restructuring at the company. Bridgestone acquired Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. twenty years ago. It is mentioned that under the new structure, Bridgestone will remain the company's premium tire brand, while the Firestone brand will be the company's value brand.
