ABSTRACT
This article discusses research being done on the role venture capitalists play in alliance formation. It references a study by L. Lindsey published in one of the 2008 issues of "Journal of Finance." It explores the factors that can help with alliance formation while ensuring that both parties to the alliance benefit. It says that venture capitalists can act as intermediaries between portfolio firms by facilitating alliance formation while exerting their monitoring role as equity partners in both firms.
