ABSTRACT
The article features Virginia Hall, one of the two greatest female war heroes in the U.S. It states that Hall is the only woman ever awarded the Distinguished Service Cross (DSC). Hall served as an undercover agent in France, first for the British Special Operations Executive (SOE) and then for the U.S. Office of Strategic Services (OSS). During World War II, the German Gestapo called Hall "The Limping Lady." In 1951, Hall joined the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), and became one of its female operations officers.
