This article presents an analysis of a job advertisement posted by a Swedish furniture maker on the walls of public restrooms to hire employees. Financial planners, like many employers these days, can be hard pressed to find qualified, reliable help. A Swedish furniture maker put handwritten ads on the walls of public restrooms. The firm reported 60 applications within tour days, four to five times the response rate from a normal newspaper ad, at a much smaller cost. The story did not say anything about the totality of the applicants, nor about whose job it was to put up the ads. OfficeTeam, a staffing service for administrative professionals, compiled some of the most unusual interview behaviors or responses gleaned from clients or colleagues. During an interview, a job seeker borrowed the phone of the hiring manager and faked a coughing fit as she called in sick to her boss.
