ABSTRACT
The article reports on the decision of farmers Chris and David Moore to replace the failing 40-year-old tile system at their Fleet Farm in West Butterwick, England with a new drainage. It states that the brothers have invested in the new system to make sure they continue growing profitable crops. Chris cites main differences from the previous system, including the use of 80 millimeter (mm) diameter plastic pipes. It is also noted that the reason for the failure of the old system is pipe movement as the underlying peat shrinks.
