The article presents the modified indexing standards. There are five parts in BS 8723 "Structured vocabularies for information retrieval" including "Definitions, symbols, and abbreviations" and "Thesauri." ISO CD 690 "Guidelines for bibliographic references and citations to information resources" can be applied to different kinds of information resources such as monographs and electronic resources. ISO 999 requires revision, particularly in the area of nonlinear indexing.
