ABSTRACT
The article reports on the need for petrochemicals industries in the Middle East to continue weathering chemical price slump as polyethylene prices continue to fall in the global market. According to global chemical pricing service Icis Pricing, Gulf polyethylene prices have fallen by $390 a tonne to $1,650 a tonne in the first week of October 2008, from highs of $2,040 a tonne in June 2008. It stresses that the fall in prices means wider movements in the global petrochemicals trade.
