ABSTRACT
The article presents the results of research which was done in an effort to present a new soft tissue sparing approach to total hip arthroplasty. Researchers wanted to develop the approach, called percutaneously assisted total hip arthroplasty, so that patients undergoing arthroplasty would not have their soft tissue impacted and would be able to return to earlier levels of functioning sooner than those who had traditional arthroplasty.

Aseptic loosening is the most frequent cause of implant failure in total hip arthroplasty. While a direct link between aseptic loosening and periprosthetic bone loss remains elusive, there is plentiful evidence for a close association with early implant migration.
