ABSTRACT
The article reports on a study from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health concerning shared immunity from the flu between mothers who received a flu vaccination during their pregnancy and their newborns. Statistics are presented related to the rates of influenza and respiratory illnesses among vaccinated mothers and their infants. The article notes that the influenza vaccine is not licensed for newborns and discusses the risk of infection among children of unvaccinated mothers.
