ABSTRACT
The article looks at how more businesses in Nevada are offering buyouts to employees as a way to stave off layoffs. It is said that buyouts can help managers in making tough decisions about who must go, and they can protect employers from lawsuits alleging wrongful termination. International Game Technology (IGT) and the University of Nevada in Las Vegas are offering buyouts to shed workers and cover budgets in hard times.
