More people are at greater risk for debt

November 2008
State Health Watch;Nov2008, Vol. 15 Issue 11, p7
This article reveals the increasing medical debt incurred by patients in Washington. According to Robert A. Crittenden, professor at the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle, the fact that many hospitals and doctors strongly encourage shifting of medical bills to credit card debt hides the problem. Crittenden claimed that state policy-makers are not addressing the problem because they hope that the U.S. federal government will solve it.
