The article reports on a decline in share prices in Belgian supplier Electrabel in October 2008, after energy minister Paul Magnette suggested the government might impose a cap on the company's prices. Prices fell when Magnette said electricity bills were up to 25 percent higher than in neighbouring countries and caps might be required. However, they recovered when other government members talked down the proposal. Bernard Clerfayt, secretary of state for finance, explained such a move would not attract new suppliers to the country.
