The article reports that Macy's, a U.S. a retail chain, will not purchase any magazine advertising in the first half of 2009. A number of topics surrounding this issue are addressed including puzzlement at the move on the part of magazine advertising executives, the risk Macy's is taking in cutting its advertising budget and the possibility that this event could foretell a trend in department store advertising.
