Excitation of the Alfvén eigenmodes by localized energetic ions in optimized stellarators

Growth rates of the core-localized toroidal Alfvén eigenmodes destabilized by the localized energetic ions in the quasi-omnigeneous stellarator are calculated. Estimates show that these growth rates are comparable with collisional damping rates on the localized electrons.
