ABSTRACT
The article reports on the membership of The Depository Trust & Clearing Corp. (DTTC) in XBRL US consortium and the appointment of Donald Donahue, DTCC chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) to the consortium's board in 2008. The consortium is responsible for the extensible business reporting language taxonomies and promoting adoption of the standard in the U.S. The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission suggested that all public companies be required to submit their financial statements in XBRL by 2011, replacing the current voluntary program.
