ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the development of LOSTPED, a simple acronym that stands for load, orientation, speed, travel, precision, environment, and duty cycle, which could help engineers collect information for linear motion components. As linear motion technology advances from single factors to complete systems, collaboration among components like linear bearing guides and ballscrew drive becomes complicated. Since LOSTPED gives basic elements when specifying linear motion systems, engineers should still consult the distributor's engineering department.
