ABSTRACT
The article examines works and authors that had been handled easily because they are putatively on the side of a soi-disant avant-garde. Among the works examined are Oliver Byrne's "First Six Books of the Elements of Euclid," "Dennis Wheatley Murder Mysteries" and Tristan Tzara's "Dada Butterflies." The article also explores certain received histories and constructs a history of the intersections between experimental literature and book.
