ABSTRACT
The article reports on the decision of the Open University (OU) in Great Britain to extend its use of the virtual world Second Life for training and development following a successful pilot exercise. The OU intends to increase the sample size and demographic group of participants and integrate it into other training courses, including management programmes. Second Life will be used to help staff engage with, and gain confidence in, emerging technology that could then be used with OU students.
