The article offers information on the spectrum analyzer, which is considered the most important single test instrument for land mobile radio technicians or engineers. The limitations of the test instrument are cited, such as poor noise figure, extremely wide front end and slow sweep speed. Typical spectrum analyzer measurements include channel power, stimulus/response and burst-power. Also presented are some of the common measurement pitfalls and corresponding fixes.
