ABSTRACT
The article offers information on the market behavior for portable media equipment in the electronics industry in Japan in 2011. Research firm In-Stat Inc. foresees a strong growth in the market of portable media brought by inexpensive flash-based players available, growing broadband penetration, and increasing availability of music and video online. The study further obtains data showing the preference of Japanese consumers to use a media mobile phone to substitute multimedia player.
