ABSTRACT
The article reports on the increasing popularity of the issue of carbon offsetting as airlines and corporations face pressure to reduce the environmental impact of their operations as of May 2007. The question at the center of the debate is whether the sustainable development projects funded through carbon offsetting schemes counteract the environmental impacts of businesses' operations, particularly air travel. An analysis of the pros and cons of carbon offsetting and a look at the alternatives are presented.
