ABSTRACT
The article discusses the reopening of the Smithsonian Institute's National Museum of American History, to take place November 21, 2008 in Washington, D.C. The event caps a two-year, $85 million renovation of the Museum. Patrick Ladden, who directed the renovation, hopes the reconfigured facility will give visitors a better idea of what it means to be an American.
