ABSTRACT
The article offers information on warehousing innovations and value-added services that shippers in the U.S. are adopting to compensate for a weak economy. On the technology front, software as a service (SaaS) is a new offering with great potential, especially for cash-tight businesses. Radio frequency identification (RFID) is common for high-end goods. Some companies are collaborating with their supply chain partners to develop a system that is effective for all players and then automate it for a fully integrated supply chain.
