The article reports that Exxon Mobil Corp. has paid $2.64 million to settle a complaint by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency that the company disposed of and improperly handled polychlorinated biphenyls on an offshore oil and gas platform. The incident occurred in the Santa Barbara Channel, off the Southern California coast, in violation of the federal Toxic Substances Control Act.
