ABSTRACT
The article presents a synopsis of corporate bailouts in history from 1894 to 2001. Topics include the 1894 bailout of the U.S. government by J.P. Morgan due to a gold panic, the $1.5 billion the U.S. government loaned to Chrysler in 1980 , and the $12 billion the Swedish government spent in 1992 to save its failing bank system. The 2001 U.S. government bailout of the airline industry is also discussed.
