ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the men and women assigned to the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command and their lives as "Space Soldiers." Particular focus is given to 41-year-old Lieutenant Colonel Robert Shane Kimbrough, who will be among a six-member crew scheduled to board the space shuttle Endeavour or STS-126 to go to the International Space Station in November 2008. The trainings the astronauts undergo, the things they will be experiencing aboard the shuttle, and the career of Kimbrough are also discussed.
