ABSTRACT
The article reports on the discovery by scientists in Bolivia that bugs aid in making some chili peppers spicy. It states that certain types of bugs can make holes in a chili pepper's skin, making the leaves of the pepper susceptible to becoming infected. According to the article, the famous spicy flavor of peppers are due to special chemicals. Also noted is the disclosure by scientist Joshua Tewskbury that peppers as they ripen, they increase their heat.
