ABSTRACT
The article profiles Mary Ellen Stewart, designer and owner of the jewelry manufacturing firm m.e. stewart, in the U.S. She started selling jewelry on art fairs and art galleries, until she met the successful contemporary English jewelers Wendy Ramshaw and David Watkins, who inspired her. In 1976, she finally decided to leave her profession as a teacher and be a full-fledged jeweler. An overview on how she established her firm is offered, along with the interpretations of her designs.
