ABSTRACT
The article reports on the results of a study that was reported in the "Bulletin of the World Health Organization". The research, which followed 1,867 people who had attempted suicide, found that a brief low cost intervention followed by contact reduces the number of deaths from suicide among people who have attempted suicide in eight middle and low income countries. Research results showed fewer deaths from suicide at 18 months' follow up in the intervention group than in the group of patients who did not receive additional intervention.
