The author discusses the book "On the Road," by Jack Kerouac and explains its impact on U.S. culture. The book chronicles a series of road trips made by a group of wandering artists. It was written in response to traditional culture of education, family and home-ownerships goals. As a result of the book, things that were previously considered to be marks of a lazy and debauched lifestyle were eventually accepted and even praised.
