The article reports that Alyce Alston, who presided over the launch of "O, the Oprah Magazine," left her publisher's position on August 8, 2000 to become publisher of Fairchild Publications's "W" magazine. At "W," Alston succeeds Susan Blank who left the magazine in July. Alston's successor in "O" is Jill Seelig.'
