Bidding on Baked Goods

The article focuses on a bake sale hosted each December by the foodservice department at the Fort Wayne Community Schools in Indiana. Foodservice workers from the schools prepare baked items that are put up for bid in a silent auction. It is held at the district's central office to raise money for the backpack program, which disburses backpacks filled with school supplies to needy students. The items are prepared by foodservice staff members at the individual schools.
