ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the geothermal lake facilities of Sherman Hospital in Elgin, Illinois. The concept of retaining a lake is described including the decision to move the heat pumps outside of patient rooms. Costs involved are presented, together with projected savings. The operations of the hospital are discussed in relation to the cooling and heating facilities of the lake. Plans for the surrounding areas are presented along with the operation of the lake system during construction.
